New Year's Eve

If you've been reading our blogs, you may remember that we had Irish potato farls for breakfast on Christmas Eve and liked them :) Daniel, it turns out, really liked them. He looked up the recipe on the internet, bought flour while we were at the grocery store, and made them himself!! (Admitedly, the pink apron was at my insistence for show.)

He had to make mashed potatoes from scratch, add a little flour, then roll or press to flatten. A little more flour to both sides...
...and fry. The recipe we found called for bacon fat, but we had palm oil - worked fine as far as we could tell. All-in-all it took about two hours.

We don't know what the Irish usually put on them, but he did what he knows - butter and sugar - and, mmm, fresh and warm. They are good!
Later, Daniel and Aaron went to a new year's eve devotions & fellowship gathering at a church member's house. They stayed for the party - Aaron has a lot of fun with the young kids from the church. He couldn't quite make it to ring in the new year, though. Pictured below, they got home at 11:00.

We put him to bed then watched the London New Year's celebration on TV. Can't believe we're already a decade into the 2000's!
