May 3 - Big Brothers 5

On Monday the brothers took the ferry to Inishmore, one of the Aran Islands.

(for info on the Aran Islands, see here)

They were blessed again with beautiful weather for their day outside.

At the edge of the cliff in Dun Duchathair (Black Fort), a stone ring fort dating centuries BC.

After taking this picture, Daniel noticed the crack running down the full thickness of the ledge Mark is sitting on...and it scared him a little!

Inside the fort.

Nope... not joking.

Now inside Dun Aonghasa, another ancient ring fort.

Mark...

....and his view!

The Cliffs of Moher across the Bay.

Here's what my day looked like with the kids :D
This is Silas' first recognizable drawing - the sun in the lower corner of his paper!

The horses often come up to the fence. Oranmore Castle is in the background just to the left of Daniel's nose.

Our evening entertainment.

Suddenly, the boys were stripping down to their underpants (Aaron's idea) saying they were going swimming. They used overturned plastic tubs for their diving board.

No worries, this was theatrical.

The mullet kind of grew on me.

On Tuesday, the guys went to Lahinch Golf Club to play one last round.

It appears they employ goats to take care of the greens.

They told me this was a challenging course and very frustrating at times.

They had no complaints about the view or weather!

Ready to go out for pizza for our last meal with the Uncles.

We stopped by Oranmore Castle hoping it would be open, but is wasn't.

After supper on our way back home. Silas had complained that he was going to throw up on our way to the mall, so I put this plastic bag around his neck. He then fell asleep in Daniel's arms before the pizza was ready and slept all through supper. So here he is scarfing down a cold piece of pizza just after a bad belly ache...I didn't think this would turn out well, but he was fine.

Making cousins Julia and Annelise each a picture to send with Uncle Mark.
Excited to see them in Grafton in July!

Mark and Michael bought me flowers to say 'thanks' for hosting them!
Thanks guys!

Saying 'good-bye'

Paper airplanes - the latest, greatest thrill.

This child has ruined SO many tubes of chap stick!

Stevie

Too cool for school

I asked them to make silly faces...not everyone complied...therefore, it just looks like Daniel is an alien...we had a good laugh over it!

Thanks for coming guys - we all had a great time! See you at home in July!
